Brad Helps Make Paladin Perform

Very few Paladin clients will ever chat with Brad Pool, but when they place an EDI order or perform just about any other function in the Paladin software Brad’s meticulous work will be on display. Brad is a senior software engineer who helps make Paladin Point of Sale work.

Brad is an Oregon guy. Born and raised in the Beaver State, his family – parents Bob and Marilyn – settled in Bend, where Paladin’s development, support, marketing and administration campus reside. He was a member of Mountain View High School’s first graduating class and went on to earn a degree in computer science from Oregon State University in Corvallis. “I was undecided on a major my first year in college, then took a couple of programming courses and really liked it. Plus, it was kind of the up-and-coming career path in the early 80s,” he explains.

That career path took him to Seattle where he worked for Boeing for 18 years and to Birmingham, Alabama where he worked for six years for U.S. Pipe, a leading manufacturer of a broad line of ductile iron pipe products. He made his way back to the Pacific Northwest in 2010 when he did some contract work at Paladin. He joined the company full-time in 2018.

Brad works on a variety of projects at Paladin from developing the programs that run the company’s performance metrics and displays them on television monitors, to EDI integrations, to various additions to the Paladin software, to the company’s management tool.

Outside of work, Brad puts in a lot of miles on his road or gravel bikes. Some of these aren’t just long rides, either. Some of them are week-long tours through various areas of the Pacific Northwest.

“I started doing long tours about 10 years ago. That’s the main thing I do to stay in shape,” he says.

Brad’s work at Paladin fits his soft-spoken, low-key personality perfectly.

“The people I work with are really great. It’s kind of a low-pressure work environment. It’s something I enjoy,” he says.
